Some things I got for Christmas

It was a nice Christmas this year. It was Carolyn and my turn to host the Sawyer family get-together.

Among the goodies I found under the tree:

* The first new series of Doctor Who on DVD

* The second season of The Simpsons on DVD

* The book The Trouble with Physics by my friend Lee Smolin

* The novel Ishmael by Daniel Quinn

* A Chapters / Indigo gift card that is going to become the Season 2.0 and 2.5 DVDs of Battlestar Galactica

* A 2007 daily Scrabble calendar

* A gift certificate for Swiss Chalet, my favourite barbecue-chicken restaurant chain

* A lovely new sweater.

I'm a lucky man. :)

BSG DVDs are great both content and technically. The audio and video are awesome. I put them right up there with the Lost DVD sets in that respect.

Can't believe I keep missing Dr. Who. I need to get the DVD sets for this as well though I hear the quality is mixed.

Hey!
I got my Mom a 2007 daily Scrabble calendar too.

She used to beat me all the time growing up - I figured she needed some brushing up because now I'm beating her.

Things I got myself . . .
- an orange `02 Avalanche
- a used KPS25sc* CD player

life is good,
Don

* even though it's 8 years old, it's still the best CD playback system ever made, and at $30K you'd expect that (and it only cost me $8K) - I'm so happy I could pee

Hi Rob,my wife and I had a quiet little Christmas with our cats. I think they got more things under the tree then we did :-)

I got myself a Tablemate, which I wanted and even though we got us a Swiss Chalet over there at North town mall O took my wife out for a Sawmill dinner last Sunday. I like Harvey's burgers though.

We just came off my Company's staff party on the 22nd Friday at the West Coast Terrace in.Nice set up and door prizes. I didn't get anything but it was a fun evening with an hour and a half long hypnotist show. I had 3 days off my wife a week off. So we had a nice quiet Chrstmas.All the bills are caught up so we can't complain.

At our house four of your books changed hands---the entire Neanderthal Parallax and Mindscan. The Trouble With Physics sounds like another interesting read, too. I'll have to look it up.

Hi Robert,
I was surprised that you got a Scrabble calendar, too. Then I read where Don says he beats me (inferring all the time). Forget that I still make him work for any win he gets. :)
Don's mom.
