Top 100 Bestselling Books of 1996
The online bookstore Amazon.com released its 1996 annual bestsellers'
list, listing the top 100 bestselling titles in the entire store,
regardless of type or format (all types of fiction and nonfiction as well
as paperbacks and hardcovers were counted).
Only ten science-fiction and fantasy titles made the list, and my
The Terminal Experiment was the fourth-highest ranked of those titles,
coming in at number 53 overall on the list. Here are the SF&F titles that
appeared on the list:
6. Idoru, William Gibson, hardcover.
33. Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card, paperback.
51. A Crown of Swords, Robert Jordan, hardcover.
53. The Terminal Experiment, Robert J. Sawyer, paperback.
61. The Diamond Age, Neal Stephenson, paperback.
65. Neuromancer, William Gibson, paperback.
66. Snow Crash, Neal Stephenson paperback.
74. Servant of the Bones, Anne Rice, hardcover.
81. The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide, Douglas Adams, hardcover.
82. Red Mars, Kim Stanley Robinson, paperback.
(Incidentally, there were only two other Canadian-authored books on the list:
the paperback of Michael Ondaatje's The English Patient at number 5 and
the hardcover of Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace at number 50.)

of Amazon.com's Top 50 bestselling SF titles of all time,
coming in at number 13 on the list, as of Tuesday, December 16, 1997.
