[FACTORING HUMANITY spine]

  The Ottawa Citizen

  Best Books of the Year

The Ottawa Citizen is the major daily newspaper in Canada's capital city. The November 29, 1998, edition contained the editors' picks of the best books of 1998. Nine fiction titles made the cut, including Robert J. Sawyer's Factoring Humanity, the only genre-fiction title of any type to make the list.

The selected books were:

  • The Love of a Good Woman by Alice Munro
  • Lams of God by Marele Day
  • Archangel by Robert Harris
  • Birds of America by Lorrie Moore
  • The Museum Guard by Howard Norman
  • My Year of Meats by Ruth L. Ozeki
  • Four Letters of Love by Niall Williams
  • Understanding Ken by Pete McCormack
  • Factoring Humanity by Robert J. Sawyer
