  Outlines and Synopses

  Outlines

An outline is created prior to writing the novel, and is used both as an aid in selling the book to a publisher and in guiding the author in the creation of the book.

  Synopses

A synopsis is created after the novel is completed. Three of the synopses below were created to accompany serialization installments in Analog Science Fiction and Fact magazine; the fourth -- the one for Illegal Alien -- was created to aid my film agent in optioning movie rights to the book.
